Project meeting for camel milk new products R&D

The Dairy Asia Secretariat, the Mongolian Camel Milk Cluster, the “Ulaanbaatar” Park of Science and Technology at the National University of Mongolia (NUM), and “Suu” JSC are jointly undertaking a project concerning the testing, research, and development of novel camel milk products.
In anticipation of World Milk Day, the working discussion regarding the progress of the aforementioned project, as well as the testing and research of new camel milk products, was convened on May 28, 2026, at the “Ulaanbaatar” Park of Science and Technology at NUM.
The discussion witnessed active participation from representatives from Dairy Asia Secretariat, the Mongolian Camel Milk Cluster, the School of Sciences at NUM, the “Ulaanbaatar” Park, “Suu” JSC, the Food Research and Science Institute under the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Modeling Thinking Lab of “Tana Lab” LLC, and representatives of the EU-funded Trade Development Project team.
During the proceedings, participants deliberated upon the characteristics, research progress, preliminary findings, innovative aspects, significance of value addition, future trajectory, and potential areas of collaboration concerning three new camel milk products currently undergoing testing, research, and development within the project framework.
Furthermore, participants underscored the importance of preserving the nutritional and valuable qualities of camel milk during the production of novel products, taking into account consumer demand, preferences, and trends, utilizing rare resources efficiently, and adopting a comprehensive perspective through the value chain. Notably, given that of the 42 million camels worldwide, only slightly more than 1 million are Bactrian (two-humped) camels—approximately 50 percent of which are located in Mongolia—the development of camel milk and dairy production through a high value chain approach is of strategic significance.
Additionally, an international project expert observed that, alongside experiments and research on new food products derived from camel milk, Mongolia possesses both the potential and the means to produce and export cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.
The subsequent discussion event would be held on June 22, within the framework of World Camel Day celebrations
