Dairy Asia participates in 14th GASL MSP Meeting took place in Dakar, Senegal

The 14th session of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (MSP) Meeting was convened in Dakar, Republic of Senegal, from 8 to 11 June 2026. The meeting was co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministère de l’Agriculture, de l’Équipement rural et de la Souveraineté alimentaire du Sénégal (MASAE), with technical cooperation provided by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the African Union – Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR).

The gathering was attended by approximately three hundred (300) representatives and delegates from over thirty (30) countries. A principal outcome of the proceedings was the formal adoption of the Dakar Declaration, an official instrument articulating a collective commitment to the sustainable development and systemic transformation of the global livestock sector.

As an action network within the GASL, Dairy Asia actively participated in the GASL MSP meeting. During the session titled “Actions from the International Year of Camelids,” Mr. Batbaatar Bayarmagnai, CEO & Coordinator of Dairy Asia, spoke as a panelist. His intervention outlined Dairy Asia’s strategic initiatives, notably the Mongolian Camel Milk Cluster and the forthcoming World Bactrian Camel Association, which is to be hosted by Mongolia.

Furthermore, Mr. Batbaatar Bayarmagnai introduced a collaborative research and development project, co-initiated by Dairy Asia and financed by “Suu” Joint Stock Company of Mongolia. This project is being implemented in partnership with the Mongolian Camel Milk Cluster and the “Ulaanbaatar” Science and Technology Park of the National University of Mongolia.

Mr. Batbaatar Bayarmagnai participated in the GASL Guiding Group meeting. Deliberations during this session encompassed the logistical organization of the MSP meeting, the Dakar Declaration, and the subsequent next steps. Additionally, the Guiding Group discussed and formally ratified the extension of the GASL Chair’s term of office for an additional period of two (2) years.
